The view from the top of our hill near Alto San Juan. The rain moves in.
The rain pours down the steep drive near our apartment and out into the street. As the storm sweeps through the drops got larger. The rain drops hitting the broad leafed trees nearby made it difficult to carry on a conversation. In the rainy season it rains almost every day. The small streams explode into torrents. Its the “dry” season now but it still rains hard like this occasionally. The air is so heavy with rain that there seems to be few spaces between the drops. One can get soaked in seconds, however the water feels warm so getting soaked can also be a relief.
Costa Rica thrives on rain. The forests drink it up. The country gets most of its electricity from renewable sources like hydroelectric and geothermal. Here is a link that describes a bit more about their energy plans and resources.Costa Rica Renewable Energy
After the rain the earth and air seem very alive.
I got soaked on the way back from the fruit stand today.
